SNARE

October 14 - November 11, 2017

John Atkins, Bill Davenport, Trey Duvall, Tim Glover, Justin Korver, Alex Larsen, Patrick Renner, and Ed Wilson

SNARE could be considered the opening act of Tensile Strength, which opens one week later at SITE Gallery Houston at the Silos. Both exhibitions are sponsored by Sculpture Month Houston and are the intervening projects of this otherwise biennial citywide event, the next one taking place in 2018.

SNARE is the somewhat light hearted opposite of the more serious Tensile Strength. It strives in a brightly lit room with white washed walls; the dialogue between our 8 sculptors’ work is lively and reactionary. SNARE simply wants the viewer to enjoy the works of art and its antics, possibly wondering about a talking fish or an alien flower garden, or about “Squeaky” the dog and the monster under the stairs.

Above all, both SNARE and Tensile Strength showcase and celebrate the creative explosion of the sculptural medium in all its diversity.
